Independence Day: Where to Celebrate July 4th in Washington, D.C.

Independence Day: Where to Celebrate July 4th in Washington, D.C.

There’s no better place to party on Independence Day than in our nation’s capital. Patriotically themed happenings and beverages abound in the District this week, including frozen rooftop treats, patio barbecues and even an open bar or two.

Wet Hot Samerican Summer
5 PM, Wednesday, July 3
Jack Rose Dining Saloon (2007 18th St. NW)
“Dress to get wet” at this Samuel Adams event hosted at the 18th Street rooftop bar, where beers are just $3 between 5 PM and 8 PM and just $4 from 8 PM to close. Choose from 15 draft options and three by the can in addition to cider-tails.

Independence Day at Lincoln
Beginning at 2 PM, Thursday, July 4; $29
Lincoln (110 Vermont Ave. NW)
DJ Huck Finn will spin at Lincoln’s uber-American July 4th party, which features $3 and $5 specials on American beers, $34 bowls of Emancipation Punch, and all-you-can classics such as hot dogs, burgers, barbecue, corn on the cob, and homemade apple pie.

Lost Society Two Year Anniversary Party
7 PM, Thursday, July 4
Lost Society (2001 14th St. NW)
Get a view of the D.C. fireworks from the roof deck of Lost Society, which will be celebrating its second birthday and American independence with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar from 7 PM to 8 PM and DJs spinning all night long.

Frozen Rooftop Cocktails
5 PM; Thursday, July 4
DNV Donovan House Rooftop Bar (1145 14th St. NW)
Scope out Zentan’s revamped rooftop and poolside bar — DNV, short for Damn Nice View — while enjoying the evening’s $12 frozen special: the “Red, white and Damn Nice View.”

Patriot BBQ
Thursday, July 4; $35
J&G Steakhouse Patio (515 15th St. NW)
Reserve a spot on J&G’s picturesque patio and enjoy eats such as shrimp cocktail, barbecue chicken, lobster rolls and ice cream sandwiches. Add a beer bucket for $25 or grab a margarita pitcher or watermelon cooler.

El Centro D.F. 4th of July Party
5 PM–2 AM, Thursday, July 4
El Centro D.F. (1819 14th St. NW)
This Richard Sandoval spot is celebrating the fourth with an all-night happy hour on the roofdeck, where Stars ‘n Stripes Margs are just $5 all night. Ladies drink free from 11 PM to 12 AM, and a DJ will keep the festive spirit going until close.
