Who Let the Dogs Out: 8 Bars Where You Can Drink With Rover in Denver
Going out for a drink? Denver bars love dogs as much as you do, so there's no reason to leave your best friend at home when happy hour rolls around. You and your furry friend can relax together at any of these dog-friendly Denver establishments.
Denver Beer Company: This famous Denver brewhaus is well known for its outdoor beer garden-style seating, which means it is also dog friendly. You can even order a dog "beerscuit" made with spent grain from the brewing process (1695 Platte St.; 303-433-2739).
Golden City Brewery: Golden’s second largest brewery is actually in proprietors Charlie and Janine Sturdavant’s backyard. The backyard is the beer garden and dogs are welcome. The pair often hosts dog-friendly events, called Yappy Hours, featuring $2 beers and fundraising for local animal shelters (920 12th St., Golden; 303-279-8092).
Jake’s Food & Spirits: With a patio that seats 100, Jake’s has plenty of room for our canine friends. Located a mile and a half from Coors Field in the River North District, Jake’s serves burgers, wings and sandwiches along with eight beers on tap, several wines and 18 specialty cocktails. On Sundays, stop by with the pup and enjoy carrot cake pancakes (3800 Walnut Str.; 303-295-3800).
Highland Tap and Burger: This upscale Highlands beer and burger joint has a large patio out front that is perfect for dining with dogs. Whether you walk your dog in the morning, noon or evening, HTB has you covered with breakfast, lunch and dinner. All dogs receive a bowl of water plus whatever bits of burger you manage to drop on the ground (2219 W. 32nd Ave., 720-287-4493).
The Irish Snug: This East Colfax pub and grill has a friendly patio on Marion Street that's perfect for both man and beast. A warm summer afternoon will find both lounging below the umbrella covered tables. The Snug also has a two-for-one happy hour (1201 E. Colfax Ave.; 303-839-1394).
Odyssey Beerwerks: This new brewery near I-76 and Sheridan is a great stopping point on your way out of or back into town. Leashed dogs are allowed on the patio and get bowls of water, while humans can enjoy an eclectic mix of beers (5535 W. 56th Ave., Ste. 101, Arvada; 303-421-0772).
Roy’s Last Shot: For years, this place in the middle of nowhere has been serving the weekend warriors of Denver after skiing, climbing, hiking, biking and four-wheeling in the nearby mountains. Since we city dwellers often bring our dogs, proprietors created the Pooch Patio, an outdoor dining area complete with dog menu serving human grade dog food from Halo, Merrick, Tiki Dog and Weruva. All dog meals are $5 and include after dinner biscuit and water bowl.
