Let the Dogs Out: 5 Bars Where You Can Drink With Rover in Washington

Let the Dogs Out: 5 Bars Where You Can Drink With Rover in Washington
There’s no reason to leave the pup at home when he’s welcome on the patio — especially when there’s a free Milkbone (and beverage specials) involved. What better way to celebrate the dog days of summer than with an adult beverage at one of these pooch-friendly spots?

Argonaut: On Saturdays between noon and 5 PM, the patio of this Atlas District dive hosts Argo-Mutts Happy Hour. Metro Mutts supplies dog treats and giveaways; the Argonaut supplies $1 off rail drinks and draft beer for humans (1433 H St. NE; 202-250-3660).

15 ria: The bar at the Doubletree in Scott Circle — named for its address on Rhode Island Avenue — hosts a Doggie Happy Hour on the patio every Thursday. The cash-only event includes $5 food and drink for you, and free treats for the pup (1515 Rhode Island Ave. NW; 202-742-0015).

Le Diplomate: You’ll always see a dog or three joining their owners for brunch or dinner on the unfenced portion of the sidewalk seating at Stephen Starr’s 14th Street brasserie. Servers have been known to provide water bowls and homemade dog biscuits, too (1601 14th St. NW; 202-332-3333).

Cantina Marina: Canines are always welcome at this Mexican joint on the Southwest Waterfront, but on Monday evenings from 5–8 PM they’ll get free treats while you enjoy food and margarita specials. Many of the “yappy hours” benefit area shelters, who may bring some furry friends in need of adoption (600 Water St. SW; 202-554-8396).

Helix Lounge: Kimpton hotels are known for being pet-friendly, and Logan Circle’s Helix hotel is no exception — dogs are welcome on the lounge’s seasonal outdoor patio at any time (1430 Rhode Island Ave. NW; 202-462-9001).
