Treat Yo' Self to an Invigorating Microbrew Soak at Oregon's First Beer Spa

Do you love beer so much you wish you could bathe in it? Well, if you’re living in Oregon, you’re in luck, as the first US beer spa opened in Sisters, OR: Hop in the Spa.

Of course it would start in Oregon, one of the microbrew capitals of the country, a state defined by its rugged/hipster beer culture. The perfectly named Hop in the Spa is an Austrian-styled day spa, and its main feature is a “beer inspired” soak. The website describes the health benefits of beer, “Over the past few years, studies have begun to show the beautifying benefits of beer. Most microbrews are made from ingredients that are rich with selenium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and vitamins B1 and B3. The ingredients in the microbrews will help with insomnia, anxiety, stress, and help calm the nervous system down.”
These baths are not actually made with warmed microbrew, but rather a mixture of the hops, minerals, and vitamins normally found in beer. Of course, those soaking in the 25 minute long bath can enjoy a pint themselves (rather than drinking the bath): Deschutes Brewery is collaborating with the spa and supplying the beer.

Other services include a hop-linen wrap with scalp massage, a variety of massage treatments, and more. For a getaway, packages are available that include the bath, a beer (or glass of wine), a movie, dinner, and night at the Sisters Bunkhouse. It’s hard to think of a more Oregonian way to be pampered.
