Where to Celebrate Independence Day 2017 in D.C.

There’s no better way to celebrate Independence Day than in the nation’s capital. Whether you’re looking for a rooftop view of the fireworks, great bar specials, or food options to take down to the National Mall, we’ve got you covered.

701 Restaurant
With views of Pennsylvania Avenue, snag a front row seat to the National Independence Day Parade at 701 Restaurant’s patio BBQ. Be a part of all the downtown festivities while eating upscale BBQ plates including Compressed Watermelon, Blue Crab Roll,Wagyu Beef sliders and Duck Bratwurst. All dishes sold a la carte. Kick off your July 4th festivities with bottomless brunch at Ambar. Featuring unlimited Balkan small plates and boozy drinks like Pear Mimosas and Mango mimosas, brunch will be offered from 10 AM - 3:30 PM, $39 per person. (523 8th St, SE; 202-813-3039)

Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken
It doesn’t get any more all-American than a picnic basket filled with doughnuts and fried chicken. Grab your basket at Astro - which includes eight pieces of fried chicken, four biscuits, coleslaw and half a dozen doughnuts (flavors: two Birthday Cake, two Cherry Pie and two USA doughnuts). City Tap House
Hosting its fourth annual BeerBQ, City Tap House will battling against 3 Stars Brewing Company, Evolution Craft Brewing Company and Hardywood Park Craft Brewery for best BBQ on the Fourth of July. Tickets include BeerBQ samples from all four participants, potato salad and coleslaw which can be paired with $5 select drafts and $5 John Dalys. If you’re not into beer, snag a glass of frosé on special all day for $8. Tickets $20, 12 PM - 5 PM. (901 9th St, NW; 202-644-9433)

Liaison Capitol Hill
If you’ve had your fill of hot dogs and burgers, grab your swimsuit and head to the Liaison’s rooftop taco party on July 4th. Art and Soul’s Executive Chef Douglas Alexander will be firing up the grill poolside from 12 PM - 8 PM, serving up $4 tacos with beer and cocktails. (415 New Jersey Ave, NW; 202-638-1616)

Roofers Union
Hellbender Brewing Company will be taking over five taps at the popular Adams Morgan restaurant and bar. Enjoy $7 drafts all day with food specials including house stuffed corn dogs with chips and pickle for $10. (2446 18th St, NW; 202-232-7663)

The Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Rosewood
Catch all of the firework action with panoramic views of the city skyline, BBQ items straight from the grill, and handcrafted cocktails including a Mint Julep and the bar’s special Rooftop Mojito. Tickets are $95 per adult and $45 for children under 12 and includes a complimentary champagne toast and passed hors d’oeuvres. (1050 31st St, NW; 202-617-2424)

The Salt Line
If you’re heading to the Nationals game on July 4th, stop by Kyle Bailey’s New England-style seafood spot for food and drink specials before first pitch. Doors open at 10 AM with grilled bites on special throughout the day. (79 Potomac Ave, SE; 202-506-2368)

Sixth Engine
Celebrate Independence Day with a patio party at SIxth Engine. Starting at 1 PM, enjoy grilled favorites including BBQ ribs, smoked half chicken and half smokes in addition to all the sides and fixins like potato salad, pasta salad, watermelon and corn on the cob.
