Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest 2017 in D.C.

It’s time to raise a stein to the best time of the year - here’s where to go for the city’s best Oktoberfest-ivities.

Capitol City Brewing
Get your tickets to the 17th annual Capitol City Brewing Oktoberfest - Northern Virginia’s largest beer festival. Enjoy samples from over 65 breweries, live music from a German band, and authentic Oktoberfest eats. Tickets are $30. September 30, 12 PM - 7 PM. (4001 Campbell Avenue, Arlington)

City Tap House
Enjoy seasonal beers like Spaten Oktoberfest, Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest and Brooklyn Oktoberfest in addition to $12 liters of Sam Adams Oktoberfest on special at City Tap’s Oktoberfest Kickoff event. Enter the stein hoisting competition for a chance to win prizes like a City Tap gift card and Sam Adams giveaways. September 16, 11 AM - 3 PM. (901 9th St, NW; 202-644-9433)

Dacha Beer Garden
Kick off Oktoberfest at the Shaw beer garden where they’ll be tapping a keg from the oldest brewery in the world: Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan. Come dressed in your best lederhosen and dirndl - there will be prizes for themed costumes including Dacha t-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings, phone cases and more. 9/16, 11 AM - 3 PM (1600 7th St, NW; 202-524-8790)

Heurich House
The Brewmaster’s Castle will open its doors and transform the picturesque backyard into an Oktoberfest biergarten. Enjoy traditional German food like soft pretzels and bratwurst with sauerkraut, seasonal beers from DC’s breweries and festive music. September 30 - October 1. Penn Social
Flex your muscles for a chance to win a trip for two to Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year Gala at Penn Social’s Stein Hoisting Competition. The top five male and female contestants will compete for the final sin Boston - head to Penn Social for your chance to rep DC in the finals. If you’re not in the mood to hoist a stein, come for the Oktoberfest celebrations including Samuel Adams Octoberfest beer and giveaways including hats, sweatbands and koozies. Port City Brewing
Head to the Alexandria brewery for an outdoor Oktoberfest party complete with food trucks, live music and lawn games. Enjoy Port City’s Oktoberfest beer along with their new Rauch Marzen - a smoked German lager, the Long Black Veil IPA and a few other rare brews. October 7, 12 PM - 9 PM. Snallygaster
Nothing says Oktoberfest like attending a monster of a beer fest - enjoy samples of over 350 craft beer and ciders while taking in live music, lawn games and bites from your favorite food trucks. The event benefits Arcadia, a nonprofit dedicated to sustainable local food. September 23, tickets start at $35. (1300 First St, SE)

Wunder Garten Oktoberfest
Head to NoMa for Wunder Garten’s weekend-long Oktoberfest celebrations. Kicking off Friday, September 22, with a ceremonial tapping of Spaten Oktoberfest Maerzen, the festivities will continue through the weekend with live music, a stein-holding competition, a German pig roast and German food from Cafe Berlin.
