What to do this weekend
Weekend Picks, 2/23-2/26

Thursday, February 23

Pint Night

What: Pints, potatoes and collector’s glasses
Where: Mellow Mushroom (2436 18th St. NW)
When: Thursday, February 23
Price: PAYG

Spring is in the air, and it can be in your pint glass too: For a limited time, receive a Sam Adams collector’s pint glass when you order the Alpine Spring lager and the Red Skin Potato Pie at Mellow Mushroom’s Thursday Night Pint Night. With the lager’s bright citrus notes and a higher alcohol content than usually found in spring brews, you’ll be thawed out in no time.

Friday, February 24

President-Worthy Happy Hour

What: Happy Hour
Where: Lincoln (1110 Vermont Ave.)
When: Friday, February 23, 4 PM -- 7 PM
Price: $3-$6

Continue the Presidents' Day celebration at Lincoln, where happy hour drink deals are almost as great as the establishment’s penny-gilded floor. Groups of up to eight people can share a bowl of the Emancipation Punch, $37, which includes Bluecoat gin, Cuca Fresca cachaça, chamomile, clove, lemon and bitters. Bottled beers--include DC Brau--are $5, and a selection of wines by the glass are available for $6. Feeling fancy? Skip the specials and go straight to the Infusion Cocktails; the Mason Dixon Manhattan features bacon, maple apples and vanilla maple-infused Knob Creek.

Saturday, February 25

Rhône Valley Wine Tasting

What:
A guided wine tasting with a master sommelier
Where: Citronelle (3000 M St. NW)
When: Saturday, February 25, 1 PM -- 3 PM
Price: $100

Laurent Lala--Citronelle’s sommelier extraordinaire and a native of France--will take you “up the Rhône Valley” in the first in a series of five monthly wine classes at this swanky Georgetown institution. You’ll taste a selection of varietals that have been produced in the region since the Romans ruled and learn why they’ve been the favorite of popes and nobles.

Sunday, February 26

Boozy Brunch at Cork Wine Bar

What: An impressive selection of brunch cocktails at Cork
When: Sunday, February 26, 11 AM -- 3 PM
Where: Cork Wine Bar (1720 14th St. NW)
Price: PAYG

Cork was one of the original foodie (and vinophile) destinations on 14th Street, but did you know it now offers Sunday brunch, too? As you might expect, the wine bar offers a hearty array of brunch-worthy cocktails, including a mimosa flight, a mango mimosa, and several other sparkling and fizzy refreshers.

Oscar Night Happy Hour

What: Movie-themed specialty cocktails and half-priced burgers
When: Sunday, February 26, 5 PM -- 11 PM
Where: Helix Lounge (1430 Rhode Island Ave. NW)
Price: Cocktails, $6.50-$8

D.C.’s been called “Hollywood for Ugly People,” and at Helix’s Oscar Night Happy Hour, it’s Hollywood for cocktails, too. Enjoy inventive drinks inspired by this year’s best picture nominees; the Aloha, Oscar! is a “Descendents”-worthy tropical punch, while the Southern Sweet Tea is straight out of the pages of “The Help.” Spiel-burgers, served with a side of fries, are available at half price all night--so you’ll never have to leave sight of the bar’s flat screen TVs.
