Helix Lounge Brings Backyard BBQ to District City Dwellers on Wednesdays
Living in Washington is getting better and better from a food and drink perspective, as the craft beer, cocktail and food scenes continue to swell, but there’s one tradeoff to urban dwelling: you (most likely) don’t have a back yard. However, inner city folk need not yearn for the chance to sip brews around a flaming grill as the scent of charred beef wafts by, because starting May 9 and continuing through Labor Day, Helix Lounge has you covered with a weekly Backyard Bash.
During Wednesday happy hour (5–7 PM), you can head to the patio to snag a $3 can of DC Brau Lager and pair it with a cooked-to-order burger from the wood-fired outdoor grill. Choose from patties of beef, chicken, turkey or black-eyed peas, dress them with free toppings from the self-serve bar and throw in a bag of chips, all for $7.
For just $10, you can have enjoy a perfect barbecue party, and not even worry about cleaning red Solo cups and paper plates off your lawn the next day. Plus, all the regular happy hour drink deals will be in full effect (that’s $2 PBR cans, $3 Yuengling and Miller Light drafts, $4 house cocktails, $5 cosmopolitans and $6 select wines), so you can really make the most of your midweek afternoons. Summer, bring it on, D.C. is ready for you.
