Three Ways to Enjoy National Punch Day in Denver

Sunday Punch Day!

We all remember a good old fashioned punch; that sour ‘n sweet concoction in a giant glass bowl ladled into plastic cups, often found at weddings, office parties, and card clubs. Well, did you know Sunday, September 20, is National Punch Day? Take the work out of making punch by heading to these punchy places in Denver.

Punch Bowl Social
It only makes sense for a place that specializes in punch bowls to celebrate National Punch Day. This Sunday, PBS will offer a Punch Flight of four mini-punches of their best mixes for only $8. Also anyone who brings in a vintage punch bowl (think thrift store or grandma’s attic), to donate to the restaurant will receive a complimentary 4-serving punch of their choice on September 20. Click your cups to that! (65 Broadway; 303-765-2695)

Teller Bar
The social lounge at The Renaissance Denver Downtown hotel will guide guests into making a spirited punch as a part of their Bar Ritual series. The Bar Ritual experience is designed to get patrons off their bar stools and actively participate in that evening’s Ritual. All this week, learn original punch recipes using local spirits. Hotel guests can take part in crafting the recipe with a little help from the Teller’s talented bartenders. Those who participate also get to sip and enjoy their punchy creations. For National Punch Day, the ritual will be offered Sunday at 5 PM. (918 17th St.; 303-867-8100)

The Corner Office
On Sunday, The Corner Office will offer a special creation called the Dickens. Turns out author Charles Dickens was an amateur craft bartender who actually served signature punch bowls at his dinner parties. TCO’s version has Gay Eclipse Rum, E&J Branchy, special bitters, pineapple juice, and black tea. Punch bowls serve four and more. (1401 Curtis St.; 303-825-6500)
