Where to Find Dog Friendly Bars in Denver

Gone to the Dogs

Denverites love their dogs even more than they love their beer. We take our dogs everywhere, which is why when the news spread that the City of Denver was cracking down on dogs in breweries, we were crushed. Never fear - many places around town are Fido friendly and have the right criteria to allow dogs. To help you out, here is a listing of dog-friendly bar and restaurant patios around town.

Over on the Tennyson Street Arts District, BookBar has a newly updated patio with firepit that can host canine companions, except when the patio is privately booked. A pergola provides plenty of shade for those Dog Days of Denver Summer. BookBar is open until 10 PM Monday through Saturday and 8 PM on Sunday. (4280 Tennyson St.; 303-284-0194)

The Farmhouse Restaurant next to Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton is conveniently located near the Greenway Trail. Ride or walk with your pooch on the trail and then hit the restaurant’s huge beer garden for some liquid refreshment before heading home. (2990 Brewery Ln.; 303-803-1380)

The large front patio at this the Highlands pub has always been dog-friendly, and the bar plans to keep it that way. The pub even has bowls of water waiting for our furry friends. (2219 W 32nd Ave.; 720-287-4493)

Next to Union Station, Hopdoddy has a huge wrap-around patio on Wynkoop that is dog friendly. The restaurant even has a self-serve water station on the patio with a jar of made-in-house daily peanut butter dog biscuits. They are good enough for humans to eat, so be sure to save some for the pooch. (1747 Wynkoop St.; 303-446-2337)

Postino has a raised deck that overlooks a nearby park in the Highlands and the Denver Skyline. Usually, dogs are not allowed on decks because they would have to walk through the inside to get there. Postino, however, has a back staircase entrance so families can bring their dogs to enjoy the view too. Dog treats and water are provided. (2715 17th St.; 303-433-6363)

At the Uptown at the Warwick Hotel, the tree-shaded patio of Randolph’s Restaurant has the nickname Paw-tio. That’s because this dog-friendly hotel has a dog-friendly patio for guests to enjoy a delicious meal with their pets. All patrons are welcome to bring dogs, even if they are not staying at the hotel. All dogs also receive a yummy “pup-cake” from Biscotti Hound Bakery. (1776 Grant St.; 303-318-7272)

Next to a large kid-friendly plaza, World of Beer Belmar in Lakewood has a large dog-friendly patio. Order food from one of the neighboring eateries and watch the kids play while Fido hangs out with you as you enjoy a brew. (7260 W Alaska Dr., Unit A; 303-934-2304)
