Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in DC
There’s no better way to welcome the fall weather than with oversized pretzels, sausages and liters of beer. Join in on the Bavarian celebrations at these upcoming Oktoberfest events.
 
Biergarten Haus
Throughout Oktoberfest, head to H street for German beers on tap, beer and food specials and events like a pig roast on Saturday, October 8, all of which can be enjoyed outdoors over two floors of roof deck and patio space. (1335 H St., NE; 202-388-4085)
 
Cafe Berlin
The German eatery will host a number of events in honor of Oktoberfest, including live German music, a bier mug and steifel giveaway, and a pig roast (for $39, get a platter of roast pig, two sides, apfelstrudel and a liter of Oktoberfestbier). Special menu items offered during Oktoberfest include Bavarian style potato soup, smoked Bluefish, roasted pig knuckle and more. (322 Massachusetts Ave., NE; 202-543-7656)
 
Capitol City Brewing Company
The 17th Annual Oktoberfest is back at Capitol City’s Shirlington location. The largest Oktoberfest beer festival in the area features beer from over 65 breweries, local food vendors, a live German band and authentic Oktoberfest food. Tickets are $30. October 1; 12 - 7 PM. Dacha
The Shaw beer garden will celebrate Oktoberfest with Weihenstephan Festbier. Until the end of October, get a boot of the fest beer for $10 during happy hour, Monday - Thursday, 4 PM - 7 PM. As always, pups are welcome to hang out in the outdoor space as you enjoy your boots of beer. (1600 7th St., NW; 202-350-9888)
 
Das Best Oktoberfest
The Das Best festival returns for another year; guests will have access to over 150 international, domestic, and local beers; wines and schnapps. Enjoy live music from authentic polka bands as well as German comfort food such as bratwurst, knockwurst and potato pancakes. Tickets start at $40. The event takes place on September 24, 11AM - 5PM. (National Harbor, Fort Washtington, MD)
 
Hill Country
During Oktoberfest, the Texas-style BBQ restaurant will be offering a lineup of seasonal and classic Shiner beers with recommended smoked barbecue food pairings. Beers are $7 each or get a flight of all four Shiners for $9. The celebrations take place between now and Sunday, October 3. (410 7th St., NW; 202-556-2050)
 
Sauf Haus
For three weeks, the Dupont Circle beer garden will be celebrating SAUFtoberfest with daily events, contests, food and drink specials. Take part in stein hoisting challenges, tap tastings, and a Bacon, Bier & Brats day party. (1216 18th St., NW; 202-466-3355)
 
Wunder Garten
The second annual Oktoberfest at the NoMa beer garden will run from September 22 - 25. Each day will feature a different festivity in addition to beer, games and food: Spaten keg tapping, live German music, Bavarian brunch, and a pig roast. (150 M St, NE; 202-716-7302)
