D.C.'s Best Beer Bars

Where’s the best place to get your brew on? From beer gardens to bars, here are some of our favorite spots to knock back a few pints.

ChurchKey
The second-floor bar above Birch and Barley houses an impressive collection of beer: 5 casks, 50 drafts and 500 bottles, to be exact. Craft beer lovers will appreciate the extensive array of brews to choose from as well as the curated list of events the bar hosts - from brewery dinners to release parties and cask nights. (1337 14th St, NW; 202-567-2576)

Dacha
The Shaw beer garden is a popular destination for those looking to imbibe outdoors. From brunch to happy hour, find an array of German, Belgian and American beers in addition to meads, ciders and wines. Pair your libations with Bavarian bites including a Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich, Bratwurst, and traditional Pretzels. (1600 7th St, NW; 202-350-9888)

Iron Horse Taproom
The two-floor beer bar features motorcycle decor and games on the lower level (including skee ball and shuffleboard). The draft list features a strong local lineup including Port City Brewing based in Alexandria and Duclaw Brewing Company based out of Baltimore. Come during happy hour (offered daily, 4PM-8PM Monday - Friday, 3PM-8PM Saturdays and 5PM-8PM Sundays) for $2 off all drafts in addition to daily specials. (507 7th St, NW; 202-347-7665)

Pizzeria Paradiso
The local pizza chain operates an impressive independent beer program in addition to slinging tasty, savory pies. Pizzeria Paradiso recently opened its 5th location in the DC area and each of its restaurants feature a healthy lineup of local beers from nearby breweries including DC Brau, Atlas Brew Works and Right Proper Brewing Company in addition to ciders from ANXO and Supreme Core. (Multiple locations).

St. Arnold’s Mussel Bar
The Belgian restaurant is known for its pots of mussels and frites, but it also offers a wide range of brews to choose from, including more than 60 Belgian beers and over 40 beers on draft. Head to one of their locations (Dupont Circle, Cleveland Park, Bethesda) and take advantage of their amazing happy hour where you can score an $11 pot of mussels and discounted half liters of select beer Monday - Friday from 4 PM-7 PM. (Multiple locations).
