Celebrate: 5 Places to Hold Your Office Party in Washington, D.C.

Whether you’re stuck planning the office shindig or are looking for a space to celebrate the holidays with friends and family, we’ve rounded up a selection of venues with the perfect blend of atmosphere and aperitifs. Go speakeasy-style with an intimate affair or invite the whole company and take over a floor at one of our favorite District establishments — just don’t drink too many tasty tipples in front of the boss (or do… we would).

The Gibson: Two small private rooms provide an exclusive setting for cocktail-centric soirees at this dimly lit speakeasy. Think embossed leather, votive candles, sours and fizzes — all the touches you need to class up a typical holiday party. Email gibsondc.events@gmail.com to plan yours (2009 14th St. NW).

Bourbon: It may be on the 18th Street strip, but Bourbon isn’t your typical Adams Morgan booze fest. The upstairs bar provides a perfectly proportioned spot for medium-sized gatherings, at which you can serve seriously addicting holiday punch and passed grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. Email Jill.tyler@bourbondc.com to book the space (2321 18th St. NW; 202-332-0800).

Churchkey
: One number for you: 555. That’s how many beers you’ll have to choose from at this 14th Street hops haven, where gourmet bar bites such as arancini and fried macaroni and cheese sticks make for perfect party food. Email lhuey@neighborhoodrestaurantgroup.com for more info (1337 14th St. NW; 202- 567-2576).

Black Jack
: An always-awesome soundtrack, indoor bocce court and movies projected onto exposed brick keep guests entertained all night at this eccentric bar above sister restaurant Pearl Dive Oyster Palace. The cocktails — intricate and excellent — will keep conversation flowing, even with that one awkward dude from your office. Private space can be reserved Sunday through Thursday; email kelly.sault@gmail.com (1612 14th St. NW; 202-986-5225).

Smith Commons: POTUS dined here with campaign contributors in the fall, but that’s not the only thing that makes this H Street dining room and public house a cool spot for your holiday celebration. Reserve the second or third floors of the public house for a private, well-appointed space (think houndstooth and twin fireplaces) in which guests can enjoy craft beer and inventive drinks such as the Guava McGuavington for parties up to 50. Email ANH@smithcommonsdc.com to book your event (1245 H St. NE; 202-396-0038).
