Drink These Warm Weather Cocktails In D.C. This Summer

by Lanna Nguyen on Jun 13, 2017 in Roundups

With a new season comes new cocktails. There’s no better way to beat the heat than with tiki drinks, specialty cocktails, and punches made with fresh fruit - check out the seasonal specials from these restaurants and bars before they’re gone.

The Betsy
Tucked away behind a side alley, follow the chicken feet around the corner of Belga and you’ll find this hidden rooftop bar specializing in gin drinks. This summer, head to the outdoor gin garden and sip on seasonal cocktails including the Greenhat Summer made with Fever Tree Naturally light, thyme, grapefruit ice - if you’re lucky, the bartender might even garnish your drink with thyme snipped from the plants that double as table decor - you can’t get any fresher than that. (514 8th St, SE; 202-544-0100)

District Distilling Co.
In honor of summer, District Distilling will offer a special cocktail menu throughout the month of June featuring WildJune Western Style Gin. Try the refreshing Heads or Tails: WildJune Western Style Gin, Don Ciccio e Figli Amaro, plum liqueur, white wine, lemon and fresh blueberries. (1414 U St, NW; 202-629-3787)

Hank’s Cocktail Bar
This July, the Petworth cocktail bar will offer a shareable blue fishbowl punch in celebration of “Shark Week.” In addition to the punch bowl, a special menu will be available only for one week - Kick off the Jaws celebration at the bar’s Shark Boil on July 23 where you can get a taste of all the summer-inspired cocktails. (819 Upshur St, NW; 202-290-1808)

Hogo at The Passenger
Head to the second floor of The Passenger for the return of Tom Brown’s pop-up tiki bar. Through the end of the summer, enjoy everything Tiki including flaming bowls, rum cocktails on draft, and a plethora of rum punches. (1539 7th St, NW; 202-853-3588)

Momofuku
Nothing says summer like fresh watermelon and Momofuku is taking it to the next level with their new watermelon punch: soju, campari and yuzu mixed and served inside a hollowed-out whole watermelon. (1090 I St, NW; 202-602-1832)

Summer House Santa Monica
There’s no better way to take in the summer than sitting al fresco with a Tiki drink in hand. Pop over to the airy, sunny Bethesda restaurant and enjoy the tropical, refreshing (and festive looking) Basic Beach: silver rum, spiced rum, aged rum, amaro montenegro, pineapple, passion fruit, cranberry. (11825 Grand Park Ave, Bethesda; 301-881-2381)
