Pair Wine Like a Pro with the Help of These Apps

Have you ever sat down to enjoy your much-anticipated Chinese take out and realized you got a bottle of Pinot Grigio to pair with it when you should have gotten a bottle of German Riesling? Never let this happen to you again with VinePair’s handy wine pairing apps.

The first app we explored is a Wine and Takeout Food Pairing App. All you have to do is select what kind of takeout you are ordering for dinner and whether you would rather have red or white wine. Impress your friends by pulling out a bottle of Syrah when your Indian takeout arrives and educate them about how the red wine “stands up well to classic Indian curries and cream sauces,” and “cuts through the spice.” Forget drinking beer with wings. The next time you get invited over to watch the big game, bring a bottle of Champagne to go with the wings. Vinepair says, “The bubbles cut through the grease, and the acidity cuts through the spice.”

VinePair’s other app we examined is a Wine and Pizza Pairing App. You can choose between red and white wine again, and you can select any and all of the toppings you want on your pizza. The toppings range from classics like pepperoni, which pairs well with a Chianti or Prosecco, and olives, which pairs well with a Pinot Grigio or Grenache, to some unusual suspects, like brussel sprouts, which complements a Chenin Blanc or Barbera.

Whatever your food preferences, VinePair’s wine pairing apps will make sure you never pick the wrong bottle to go with your takeout again!
