Bars With Great Baseball Specials for Opening Day

by Lanna Nguyen on Apr 7, 2016 in Roundups

The Nationals’ Opening Day is right around the corner. Before you head to the ballpark, peruse these happy hours and specials in honor of the Nats’ home opener as well as regular season deals.

The brewery will host Open Day Fest from noon–4 PM. Enjoy corn hole, a photobooth, music, Bluejacket brews, picnic fare (including Red Apron Butcher sausages), grilled oysters, burgers, wings, and ribs. Keep an eye out for a special performance from Bluejacket’s own brewers at 2 PM! (300 Tingey St, SE; 202-524-4862)

To celebrate Opening Day, Brookland’s Finest will have a special menu and beer flight available from April 7–10. Food highlights include an appetizer special of meatball sliders and a dinner special of half smokes and pretzel bites. The “Ivy City Pinch Hitter” beer flight features four brews (including three from DC Brau and one from Atlas Brew Works) for $8. (3126 12th St, NE; 202-636-0050)

Watch the Nationals kick off their season at City Tap House and enjoy their Home Opener Special, which consists of a Narragansett Tall Boy, ball park hot dog, and housemade potato chips for $8. The deal is available all day. Regular happy hour runs from 5–7 PM, Monday through Friday, with plenty of TVs in the bar and restaurant area for baseball viewing. (901 9th St, NW; 202-644-9433)

On Opening Day from 11 AM–5 PM, Navy Yard’s Southern-inspired restaurant will be hosting a pop-up beer garden at The Arris Apartments. Stop by the patio to enjoy bites from Due South, live music, and more than eight beers. For regular season games, they’ll have their normal happy hour specials every weeknight from 3–6 PM. (301 Water St, SE; 202-479-4616)

To celebrate Opening Day, this Italian eatery will host Chefs Play Ball, an event featuring the city’s top chef’s meatballs that includes Osteria Morini’s own chef Matt Adler. Tickets are $55 and include food and two drinks. Stop by before regular season games for a weekday happy hour that includes 20% off beverages from 4–7 PM. (301 Water St, SE; 202-484-0660)

Just steps from Nationals Park, this lodge-themed sports bar offers great weekday happy hour (Monday–Friday, 3–7 PM) and late night specials (every night 10 PM to close), which are both perfect for evening home games. Deals include discounted beer, rail drinks, house wines, and appetizers. They’ll be open at noon to host a home opener party on Thursday, which will most definitely include shotskis. (20 M St, SE; 202-750-7724)

Willie’s Brew & Cue
The barbecue joint just around the corner from Nationals Park has a special game day menu for pre- or post-game festivities. Enjoy barbecue favorites such as pulled pork, Memphis style wings, and smoked wings. Happy hour offerings include $5 glasses of house red and white wine, $5 rail drinks, and draft beer specials available daily from 4–7 PM. (300 Tingey St, SE: 202-651-6375)
