How to Celebrate Father's Day 2016 in D.C.

Father’s Day is around the corner, and there are plenty of options to celebrate your dad. From cooking classes to cigar samplings to hearty brunch specials, here’s our list of best bets. Spoiler alert: there’s a lot of whiskey involved.

Things to Do
Acadiana’s Executive Chef Brant Tesky will lead a class showing how to prepare his favorite BBQ dishes, including BBQ Short Rib Potato Salad, Beef Tri Tips, Gaucho Style Skirt Steak and Hanger Steak Au Poivre. Get your dad tickets to this annual event and he’ll surely become a grill master. $85; June 18, 1 PM - 3 PM. (901 New York Ave., NW; 202-408-8848)

Dinner and Jazz at Bayou Bakery
Take in a special live performance from international jazz star Reginald Cyntje at Hill Center and then enjoy a three course dinner from Bayou Bakery. Tickets are $37 and include concert admission, dinner, and a glass of wine. (901 Pennsylvania Ave. SE; 202-664-5307)

Whiskey and Cigars at Bourbon Steak
Treat your dad to an evening of Glenlivet whiskey and Davidoff cigar sampling lead by experts from Davidoff Cigars and Pernod-Ricard. Guests will also be treated to complimentary bites from Bourbon Steak’s Chef Palma. $60; June 26, 8 PM. (2800 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202-944-2026)

Pearl Dive Crawfish Boil
If your dad is a seafood lover, take him to Pearl Dive’s second and last crawfish boil of the season. Enjoy a traditional boil featuring Louisiana-style crawfish accompanied by all the Southern sides you can handle: corn on the cob, roasted red potatoes, house-smoked sausage, coleslaw, fritters and potato salad. $50; June 18, 12 PM - 2 PM or 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM. (1612 14th St, NW; 202-986-8778)

Whiskey and Spirits Tasting at Shinola and Filson
Take your dad on a shopping spree and then enjoy free whiskey and spirits tastings served by a mixologist at Shinola (1 PM - 5 PM) and by master distiller Becky Harris of Catoctin Creek up the street at Filson (2 PM - 6 PM). This is the kind of shopping your dad can get behind. (Shinola: 1631 14th St, NW; FIlson: 1543 14th St. NW.)

Early Mountain Vineyards
Get out of the city and celebrate Father’s Day at Early Mountain Vineyards’ Field Day. Enjoy live music, a locally sourced lunch with items including chicken salad sandwiches with garlic aioli and pickled ramps, whole roast porchetta with kale and pickled onions, pastrami sandwiches, roasted cauliflower and carrot salad, and vegetable sandwiches. Sip on newly released wines from the vineyard and brews from Champion Brewing Company. June 19; Food served from 12 PM - 4 PM; alcohol for purchase from 11 AM - 6 PM. (6109 Wolftown-Hood Road; Madison, Va.)
