5 Best Local DC Beers for Fall

Cheers!
by Lanna Nguyen on Sep 20, 2016 in Roundups
Summer is over and that means saying goodbye to shandies and welcoming back pumpkin beers and heavier lagers. There’s no better way to usher in fall than trying these seasonal beers from local DC breweries.

3 Stars Brewing: Nectar of the Bogs
A combination of cranberries, three varieties of hops, and five different grains, the Nectar of the Bogs has a bright and crisp flavor that pairs well with heavier, rich foods including roasts and turkey. It's perfect for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. (Cranberry Saison, 5.0%)

DC Brau: Oktboberfest
A German-style Oktoberfestbier, DC Brau’s Oktoberfest is back for its second year. The traditional-style brau is brewed with German malts and is available through the coming months at the brewery’s tasting room on draft and in 16-ounce tallboys. You can also find it in local retailers and bars. (German-style Oktoberfestbier; 5% ABV)

DC Brau: Penn Quarter Porter
DC Brau’s first limited release beer, the robust brew with chocolate notes is a mix between a porter and a stout. Its rich flavors will keep you warm on those colder autumn days. Available on draft and in cans. (Porter, 5.5%)

Denizens Brewing Co.: Junk in the Dunk
Denizens Brewing will be bringing back its Munich-style Dunkel this fall. The dark lager has subtle notes of cocoa and caramel and will be available through the rest of the season at the Silver Spring brewery. (Munich Dunkel Lager, 6.3%).

Port City Brewing: Oktoberfest
Made with all German malts and hops, Port City’s Oktoberfest is a Marzen style lager that is perfect for the fall season. The slightly hoppy Oktoberfest, served unfiltered, is a great beer option whether you’re tailgating in a stadium parking lot or watching football on your couch. (Marzen, 5.5%)
