Where to Find D.C.'s Most Festive Holiday Cocktails

by Lanna Nguyen on Dec 13, 2016 in Roundups

With the holiday season in full swing, DC bars are pulling out all the stops and offering up fun, festive cocktails to warm you up and help get you through the winter chill.

Get in the holiday spirit at Bibiana with the 25 Cocktails of Christmas. Through December 25, sample 25 new seasonally-inspired drinks like the Cranberry Smash (Buffalo Trace, bourbon and amaro-macerated cranberries, cinnamon bitters, brown sugar), Spicy Hot Chocolate (Dark Tcho Chocolate, Espellette, Calabrian chili, saffron, clove, orange peel, spices) Hot & Cold GIn Fizz (G’Vine gin, lemon, warm citrus spuma) and more. (1100 New York Ave, NW; 202-216-9550)

The Four Seasons’ steakhouse will celebrate the holidays with 12 Days of Cocktails. Starting December 13, head bartender Torrence Swain will offer a different cocktail each day leading up to Christmas Eve. Enjoy classics like a Hot Buttered Rum or be a little more adventurous and sample the Tequila Hot Toddy. A portion of the proceeds from any drink ordered during this timeframe will go towards providing toys for local children in foster care. (2800 Pennsylvania Ave, NW; 202-944-2026)

The outdoor barbecue and beer garden will transform into a German-inspired holiday market. In addition to the usual beers, sample festive drinks like Eggnog shots, Mulled Wine, Spiked Hot Cider and more. Open through December 18th before the beer garden closes for winter. (1801 14th St, NW)

Head to the second floor terrace bar to sip on three seasonal hot cocktails: Chocolate Without Borders (Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, Pleasant Pops Mexican Chocolate Pop), Chai My Buns (Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Chai Tea, Soy Milk - topped with a warm cinnamon bun), or Spiked Apple Cider (Rum or Whiskey, Allspice, Clove). All three cocktails are $10. (2007 18th St, NW; 202-588-7388)

Building on last year’s success, the popular Christmas cocktail bar is back and it’s bigger and better than ever, having expanded into three bar spaces: Mockingbird Hill, Eat the Rich and Southern Efficiency. Sip on holiday cocktails with names inspired by favorite Christmas movies like Buzz, Your Girlfriend, Woof! (Gin, Pine Liqueur, Rosemary Grapefruit Soda, Christmas Tree) and Gretchen, Stop Trying to Make Fetch Happen (Moscatel Sherry, Dry Curacao, Spiced Cranberry Syrup, Sparkling Wine). If you’re feeling extra festive, order up a Nog Shot. (1839-1843 7th St, NW; 202-316-9396)

Michael Schlow’s restaurant at the Carlyle Hotel is offering a special aged eggnog for the season: Eggnog Allen Poe. Made with heavy cream, half and half, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg infused whole milk, Ron Zacapa, Remy 1738 and Wild Turkey 101, it is aged for six weeks and available while supplies last for $12. (1731 New Hampshire Ave, NW; 202-787-1500)
