by Lanna Nguyen on Jan 3, 2017 in Roundups

Whether you’re resolving to keep with your New Year’s resolution of being healthy, looking to support a great cause, or trying to dine at some of DC’s top restaurants without breaking the bank, here’s our list of upcoming food events in the city to check out.

Brew a New You - Jan. 8
Denizens Brewing Co. will be hosting a wellness fair featuring local health experts so you can start the New Year off right. Events include Yoga on Tap (yoga session followed by a pint of beer), Pilates, Acupuncture, Massages, Personal Training and more. After you’ve gone to each workshop, head to the Healthy Happy Hour for some brews and calorie-conscious snacks like Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Sesame Hummus, and Chickpea Wedges. Free, 10:30 AM - 3 PM. (1115 East-West Highway, Silver Spring; 301-557-9818)

Escape from the winter cold at Mike Isabella’s Mexican cantina where they’ll be hosting a Yacht Party complete with leis and captain’s hats. Enjoy margaritas, tiki cocktails and Mexican bites all while pretending it’s not mid-January. TIckets are $5; 5 - 11 PM. (4000 Wilson Blvd, Arlington; 703-312-0200)

Restaurant Week - Jan. 30 - Feb. 5
Winter Restaurant Week is back. This will be the first time that brunch is featured on the menu as restaurants have the option of adding a $22 priced menu in addition to the usual $35 dinner and $22 lunch menus. Participating restaurants include some popular hot spots like Convivial, Sushi Taro, Centrolina and more.

Celebrate local women chefs and mixologists while supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance at the Turn Up The Heat Gala. Sample tastings from over 60 chefs, enjoy live and silent auctions all while contributing to ovarian cancer research. Tickets are $275 for general admission.

Join in on the pre-prohibition themed Festival at Longview Gallery and enjoy over 60 samples of craft spirits while listening to a 1920’s-style jazz band. Guests are encouraged to dress in modern-Gatsby attire to get the full speakeasy experience. Ticket prices vary on session and type of experience ($85-$140).
