Where to Drink During Memorial Day Weekend in D.C.

by Lanna Nguyen on May 23, 2017 in Roundups

From rooftop pool parties to a Hawaiian luau, there’s plenty of outdoor activities and events to celebrate Memorial Day and officially kick off summer in DC.

Boundary Stone
Just in time for the holiday, the neighborhood pub is debuting a new summer menu. Boundary Stone’s menu will include seasonal spins on traditional pub fare. Try out their new brunch dishes like the Meats & Foods Chorizo Sausage sandwich with an over easy egg, pepperjack cheese and tomatillo salsa and the Short Rib Hash served with two sunny side up eggs. (116 Rhode Island Ave, NW; 202-621-6635)

The Brig
Say Aloha to the three day weekend at the Capitol Riverfront beer garden. Back by popular demand, The Brig is hosting its first pig roast of the season. Partnering with Kona Brewing Company, the beer garden will also offer a traditional Hawaiian Luau style pig roast starting at 11 AM. After eating and drinking all day, stick around for a Hawaiian-themed movie on the outdoor screen at 8:30 PM. (1007 8th St, SE; 202-675-1000)

City Tap House
On Memorial Day, oysters will be the main attraction at City Tap House. Hosting its Third Annual Memorial Day Shuckfest, guests can enjoy food and drink specials including $1 oysters, $5 New England beers on draft, $9 Oyster Kennedys, $10 Oyster shooters, $15 Fried oysters, $19 bottomless mimosas, beermosas and bloody marys. There will also be live music, cornhole and other patio games. May 29, 11 AM - 4 PM. (901 9th St, NW; 202-644-9433)

Embassy Row Hotel
Party like it’s 2000 at the Embassy Row Hotel’s rooftop pool party and concert featuring none other than Aaron Carter. Hosted by Hot 99.5, jam out to Aaron’s latest singles and kick off the summer season with a rooftop concert. Tickets are $30 and include concert tickets and access to pool party. (2015 Massachusetts Ave, NW; 202-265-1600)

Mason and Rook
Celebrate the start of pool season at the Logan Circle hotel’s rooftop. Work on your tan and take in panoramic views of the city while sipping refreshing cocktails from the hotel’s bar, Radiator. (1430 Rhode Island Ave, NW; 202-742-3100)

Passport DC Program
Kick off the summer season with the start of the Washington, DC Summer Passport program. Beginning Memorial Day and running through Labor Day, take a tour of DC’s dining and drinking scene by visiting over 50 different restaurants and bars (including B Too, Cotton & Reed, and more). Show your passport at each establishment and receive 2-for-1 beverage specials. $20 per passport.
