D.C.'s Best Local Fall Beers
3 Stars Brewing: Nectar of the Bogs
With the fall holidays in mind, 3 Stars Brewing’s cranberry saison is the perfect brew to pair with upcoming feasts with Nectar of the Bogs’ crisp flavor complementing rich foods. Made with fresh cranberries and a variety of hops and grains, be sure to pick some up before heading home for Thanksgiving. (Cranberry Saison, 5.0% ABV)
DC Brau: Oktoberfestbier
A Germany-style Oktoberfest lager, Oktoberfestbier just made its return at the beginning of the month. The light amber brew is slightly hoppy with rich malty notes - a great option for fall drinking. (Marzen, 5.0% ABV)
Hellbender Brewing: Dunkelweisse
The DC-based brewery’s Dunkelweisse is a dark, earthy brew made with 100% wheat and open fermented. The seasonal beer’s spice tones make it a great autumn beer and it will be available in a few weeks at local bars. (Dunkelweizen, 4.5% ABV)
Port City Brewing: Oktoberbest
The Alexandria brewery’s Oktoberfest offering is a perfect complement to fall activities; the amber hued brew is made with German malts and hops and served naturally carbonated - slightly sweet with just a little bit of hop. Pair it with your favorite tailgate snack or drink it on its own. (Marzen, 5.5% ABV)
Supreme Core Cider; Micawber
Ok, not technically a beer, but... this recently unveiled cider from DC’s newest cidery is the embodiment of fall (because nothing says autumn like the taste of crisp apples). The Micawber is an unfiltered cider made with Virginia apples and English ale yeast and pairs best with heavier dishes - perfect for those hearty, fall meals. The new release is available at both locations of Glen’s Garden Market.
