Play Around at These D.C. Bars with Games

Whether you’re looking for a fun date night spot or looking to up the ante and challenge your friends to some bar games, there are plenty of spots around the city with traditional billiards and outdoor games. Check out our go-to spots for where to drink and play in DC.

The no-fuss, low key basement bar in Cleveland Park offers plenty of diversions in the way of arcade games (Big Buck Hunter and Pac Man among the offerings), darts, pool (if you’re a shark, join the weekly tournament every Monday), shuffleboard and traditional board games (free to play) including Connect 4, Taboo, Cards Against Humanity and Trivial Pursuit. Come during happy hour from 4 - 8 PM where select drafts, rail drinks and wine are $4.  Pro Tip: every Sunday, ladies get to to play pool and shuffleboard for free all night long. (3427 Connecticut Ave., NW; 202-363-7665)

Comet Ping Pong
If you’re a fan of table tennis, live music and pizza, you’ve come to the right place. With 19 different variations, the hip pizza joint offers a pie for everyone’s taste (if none of the flavors float your fancy, there’s an option to build your own) - snag a slice and a spot at one of the ping pong tables for a match. All tables are available to use free of charge. (5037 Connecticut Ave., NW; 202-364-0404)

H Street Country Club
Try your hand at indoor mini-golf at the fun and funky H Street bar - the DC-themed 9 hole course is located on the second floor. If your golf game is off,  there are plenty of other options on the first floor to keep you occupied: shuffleboard, skeeball and giant jenga. (1335 H St, NE; 202-399-4722)

Iron Horse
Blocks from the Capitol One Arena, the Penn Quarter biker-themed bar is a fun stop for pre and post Wizards/Capitals/Hoyas game festivities. Head to the bottom level for skeeball, shuffleboard and arcade games including Pac Man. Pro tip: Happy hour is offered every day from open to 8 PM - snag discounted drinks and get your game on. (507 7th St, NW; 202-347-7665)

The Midlands
The Petworth beer garden offers the best of both worlds: outdoor bench seating with cornhole and a large indoor space with free pool and darts. Enjoy your choice of brew from the 19 beers on draft while getting competitive al fresco or under cover inside. (3333 Georgia Ave, NW)

Vinoteca
The U Street wine bar features an outdoor bar space complete with a bocce court - open year round, sip on a seasonal cocktail or a glass of wine while taking part in the popular backyard game. (1940 11th St, NW; 202-332-9463)
