Ryan Reynolds is Now a Co-Owner of Aviation Gin

by Alexander Frane on Mar 5, 2018 in Culture

Ryan Reynolds, star of the popular Deadpool film franchise (as well as the unpopular Green Lantern movie), has turned his attention towards a different art form: that of distillation, as the actor is now a part-owner of Portland, Oregon based gin brand Aviation Gin.

Reynolds announced his purchase in a pinned tweet on Twitter, writing, “In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company…” accompanied by a photo of himself with a bottle of Aviation.

In an automatic response to press inquiries he writes, with trademark snark, “About a year ago, I tried Aviation for the first time. Since that day, I’ve spent my time finding some way to infiltrate the company. I did this for one simple reason: It’s the best damn gin on the planet. Period. My responsibilities here at the company are vast. I’ll spend my days being photographed intermittently clenching my jaw muscles while pointing at things and nodding. I’ll drink Aviation Gin. I’ll sit in board meetings, imagining my very own Red Wedding. I don’t know whose idea it was to allow me into the gin business, but I can assure you, there are smarter, more reasonable people in charge.”

Flippant tone aside, Adweek reported that Reynolds’ duties would extend far beyond clenching his jaw and pointing, as the actor would will be responsible for the “entire creative process for Aviation, including Aviation’s marketing and strategy.” The role is not unlike Matthew McConaughey’s at Wild Turkey, so we’ll have to wait and see if Reynolds develops a line of charming adverts for the gin.
