Flying Fish's Exit 4 Trippel Wins Award
Jersey-based Flying Fish took home Washington Post’s 2011 Beer Madness Champion award for its two year old Exit 4 beer which is an American-style trippel. Lagunitas’ Maximus finished second in the competition that also featured Victory’s Prima Pils and 64 beers total. The 9.5% ABV but still easily drinkable beer features American dry hops and boasts a bold and hoppy citrus flavor. Flying Fish suggests pairing it with fish, shrimp, and strong cheeses. The brewery is the second largest in New Jersey and rolled out 12,000 barrels last year.
