DC Brau Launches Citizen Cinema
We know it’s short notice, but you don’t want to miss the cinema and draught party tonight at DC Brau Brewing Co. The occasion is the brewery’s launch of their new bi-monthly film series called Citizen Cinema. The founders, Brandon Skall and Jeff Hancock, are die hard DC Statehood supporters, and the series is their way of getting to know their community and give disenfranchised DC voters a chance to have at least one vote count for something.
We can’t think of a better way to sample their fabulous ales than paying a visit to the brewery and taking in a show. Admission is free, pints are only $4, and the ales on tap include The Public, an American Pale Ale that is 6% ABV, The Corruption, an India Pale Ale that is 6.5% ABV, and The Citizen, a 7% ABV Belgian Pale Ale.
DC Brau is dedicated to producing great brews that naturally pair well with great food. So instead of stale popcorn and overpriced candy, your hosts are offering some out-of-the-ordinary, tasty snacks prepared by Red Apron Butchery. On sale will be herb-scented buttered popcorn, BBQ popcorn, beef jerky, hot, freshly pressed paninis, homemade charcuterie and pâté, half smokes, and other goodies.
In a nod to Halloween, tonight’s movie will be the scary comedy Shaun of the Dead, which starts at 9:00 PM. The event is BYOS (bring your own seat), so bring a chair, cushion, or thick blanket with you, and be sure to get there by 7:00 PM because seating is limited.
If you can’t make tonight’s party, we strongly encourage you to visit the brewery, which conducts free tours and tastings every Saturday from 1:00–4:00 PM. DC Brau is located at 3718-B, Bladensburg Rd. NE, Washington, DC 20018, and be prepared to take a taxi or hitch a ride with friends, because this isn’t Metro territory. You can get directions here.
Moviegoers must be 21, unless accompanied by a parent, no exceptions.
