Oyster Roast with DC Brau at Watershed, Nov 18
Next up in Watershed’s ongoing supper series is a traditional oyster roast. The family-style dinner will feature DC Brau’s The Public, along with grill-roasted bivalves, classic New England clam chowder, southern fried chicken, hearty sides and chocolate banana bread pudding for dessert.
Live music will play, and the seafood house’s new “Oyster Master,” Will Sexton, will be on hand. Before coming to D.C., Sexton honed his oyster skills and knowledge in Charleston, SC, and knows more about the succulent shellfish than you may have imagined possible. Ask him why oysters mostly look the same but their taste varies wildly, or what how to do a perfect shuck.
His plans at Watershed include developing cocktail and wine lists that change with the raw bar, for optimum pairings. We hear his favorite tipple is Jameson, neat, so if you gain some mollusk knowledge while you enjoy your dinner, you know how to thank him. Educating the public about the Oyster Recovery Partnership’s shell recycling project is also a goal, so expect to hear about the benefits of this Chesapeake Bay initiative.
The 7 PM dinner costs $75 per person, inclusive of the beer, and space is limited, so call the restaurant at 202-534-1350 to reserve.
