Greg's Annual Holiday Ale Tasting at Birch & Barley
Winter brings beer enthusiasts another celebrated season of small batch, special ales, and picking a few favorites is challenging at best. Greg Engert is on the task again this year, and he’s rounded up an unquestionably fun selection of rare, seasonal beers. Sample your way through Greg’s festive ales and Chef Kyle’s special, one-night-only holiday dishes of Whole Goose, Duck Meatballs with Housemade Tagliatelle, and his take on Chinese cooking.
Pastry Chef Tiffany MacIsaac will send everyone off with a stash of her famous homemade Christmas cookies. So gather up your friends and say cheers to the holidays with some truly cheerful ales. Call Birch & Barley at 202-567-2576 to reserve your spot.

CHEF KYLE’S HOLIDAY FOODS
1 | The Christmas Dish: "Boiled Goose"
A Dickens-era Christmas dish of cured and braised whole goose, which is then sliced and served with a stuffing of brioche, sage, chestnuts and dried cherries.
2 | The Hanukkah Dish: Hanukkah Chop Suey
Chef Kyle polled all of his friends who celebrate Hanukkah. The most common response: “Honestly, we just go out for Chinese." This gives way to a dish of stir-fried vegetables mixed with a housemade sauce and served over latkes.
3 | The Festivus Dish: "Spaghetti and Meatballs"
Ever look closely at the dinner table in old Seinfeld episodes? Chef Kyle does, and it's always spaghetti and meatballs. In this reinterpreted homage to Jerry and the gang, he’ll prepare tagliatelle with duck meatballs and housemade tomato sauce.
