What to do this weekend
Weekend Picks, 1/12-1/15

Thursday, January 12

New York Wine and Food Experience

What: Sample five New York wines and NYC-inspired small plates
Where: Northside Social Coffee & Wine (3211 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington)
When: 7 PM, Thursday, January 12,
Price: $40

Can’t get out of town for the long weekend? You can still enjoy a taste of the Big Apple at this Arlington wine bar, where winemaker and Brooklyn Oenology founder Alie Sharper will introduce wines produced in the region, all paired with New York-influenced small plates.

Friday, January 13

Restaurant Week Dinner at El Centro D.F.

What: Appetizer, entree, dessert and adult beverage
Where: El Centro D.F. (1819 14th St. NW)
When: Friday, January 13
Price: $35.12

Three courses for $35.12 at Richard Sandoval’s 14th Street taqueria and tequileria is already a steal, but the addition of a top-notch margarita or seasonal (and spiked) agua fresca makes this deal muy caliente!

Saturday, January 14

Masters of Food & Wine

What: Local microbrew tasting
Where: Park Hyatt Washington (1201 24th St. NW)
When: 5:30 PM–7 PM, Saturday, January 14
Price: $45

This weekend’s series of demonstrations and tastings led by the Park Hyatt’s Blue Duck Tavern team includes a sampling of ales crafted locally at Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Company. The ticket price includes tax, gratuity, and pairings with Blue Duck’s jar conserves.

Sunday, January 15

MLK Jr. Memorial Brunch and Celebration

What: Art-inspired sips at the Corcoran Gallery of Art
Where: Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, 50 17th St. NW
When: Sunday, January 15, 11AM - 2PM
Price: $25, plus $8 per cocktail

Inspired by the Corcoran Collection’s special exhibitions, Todd Gray’s Muse restaurant only offers brunch a couple of times every month--so don’t miss this chance to wash down brown sugar sticky buns with a host of gallery-worthy brunch libations. Afterwards, you can walk it off at the 30 Americans exhibit, which closes in February.
