Oysterstock 2012 Fundraising Festival at Poste, April 22
March has plenty of its own fun going on, but think forward for a moment to the warm, green days of late April, and Earth Day, in particular. On Sunday, April 22, Penn Quarter’s Poste Moderne Brasserie will host an all-day extravaganza to benefit the blue parts of our planet.
Oysterstock is a fundraising festival for the Oyster Recovery Partnership, featuring live music, plenty of eats and even more to drink. Your $75 ticket gains you access to sips from DC Brau, Port City Brewing, Catoctin Creek Distilling and Breaux Vineyards. Poste chef Dennis Marron will provide plenty of accompanying oysters (think raw, grilled, in stuffing and in stew) as well as munchies like bangers, mac ‘n’ cheese, steamed clams, coleslaw and Border Springs lamb.
While you’re rocking to the Joe Chiocca Band, the Weathervanes and Wes Tucker and the Skillets, don’t get too full of brew and bread to join the oyster eating contest: in honor of the 42nd annual Earth Day, the first five contestants to finish 42 oysters on the half shell will receive a grand prize. In a bid to raise even more dough for the bivalve’s besieged Chesapeake Bay home.
So don’t delay in snapping up your tickets, available online now, because the party will take place rain or shine, and space is limited. Oysterstock forever!
