First Annual D.C. Funky Fresh Foodie Fest, August 25
Which is more hip right now, craft beer or food trucks? You won’t have to choose between the two this weekend, thanks to the first annual D.C. Funky Fresh Foodie Fest. (We’re slightly sorry about that title, but the abbreviation, DCF4, is a good one, so we’ll forgive.)
Ten of D.C.’s best food trucks will gather at the Fairgrounds at Half and M, just by Nationals Park, and will dish out treats for eight full hours on Saturday, August 25. For your entrance fee, you’ll also be able to enjoy beers from Starr Hill, Goose Island, Fordham Brewing, Widmer Brothers, Devil’s Backbone and more, as well as margaritas and wine, from 1–9 PM.
Four live bands will play, and more amusement will come from a karaoke invitational, interactive art and a set of “celebrity” judges handing out the DC Trucky Awards. Tickets are tiered, and start at $60 per person, which includes food from all the trucks, three full drinks (or 10 tastings) and all the entertainment. When you spring for the $75 VIP tickets, your drink quotient is upped to two additional full drinks (or six more tastings), plus entry two hours early, at 11 AM. If you don’t want to go all out, or are a designated driver, you can snag a $15 entry ticket and snack and sip with pay-as-you-go pricing.
Here’s the list of attending food trucks, each preparing food samples that will be specially paired with a specific beer:
BBQ Bus
Curbside Cupcakes
