Cocktail Recipe: Mexican Martini at Hill Country Barbecue; Tasting Dinner September 24
Hill Country Barbecue wants us to leave the vodka vs. gin debate behind for a bit, and consider a new spirit for the martini: tequila. The Mexican Martini sees some olive juice thrown into the traditional mix of lime and the agave spirit, to good effect. Check out the cocktail recipe below to try the sweet and salty sip.
You can also get a taste of this and another tequila creation called The Mayor of Lockhart at a special tasting dinner to highlight certified organic 123 Tequila. On Monday, September 24, spirit specialist Jason Parsons will host the four-course meal, starting at 6 PM with the two cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
Each course that follows will be paired with blanco, reposado and then anejo 123 Tequilas, which will complement the smoky meats well — expect chile-rubbed pork and burnt ends of brisket and lamb. The final bite of the night has tequila as well — combined with chocolate in a dip for donuts. Tickets to the event are $60 per person, and reservations can be made by calling 202-556-2044.
So, what’s in your favorite martini — gin, vodka or tequila? Let us know in the comments.
