DC Wine Week Guide: Five Don't-Miss Events

Another week, another great reason to get your drink on in the District: It’s now officially DC Wine Week 2012! In addition to the usual grear happy hour deals on wine around Washington, there’s also a special lineup of vino-centric events this week. Here’s where to raise your glass with other District wine enthusiasts.

ArtJamz
Monday, October 15, 6:30–8:30 PM; $25
Sip your vino by the bottle or glass to get your creative juices flowing at ArtJamz, where you’ll get a canvas and all manner of art supplies to create a Malbec-inspired masterpiece (1742 Connecticut Ave. NW).

Red, Burgandy & Plum: A Night of Wine & Fashion
Tuesday, October 16, 6–8 PM; $40
Three words for you: open wine bar. A ticket entitles you to bottomless pours of Hob Nob Pinot Noir and Rodney Strong Savignon Blanc ar Lost Society, as well as sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres such as bruschetta and Nutella s’mores. You’ll also enjoy a “fashion showcase” co-hosted by local style blogger Very Busy Mama (2001 14th St. NW).

Vinolovers App Soft Launch & Wine Tasting
Wednesday, October 17, 6:30–9 PM; $30
Ever wish you could be in a wine subscription club with a “buying experience that is personalized to your tastes”? Us too.  Celebrate the soft launch of the DC-based startup Vinolovers, an app that will do just that, ar The Dunes. You’ll partake in a tasting of varietals selected to represent various “wine personalities” and enjoy chef-prepared food pairings to a live-DJ soundtrack (1402 Meridian Pl. NW).

Twine Up: Wine & Tweets
Thursday, October 18, 6:30–9:30 PM; $10
Tipsy tweeters, unite! Grab that smart phone and a glass of Syrah and head to Veritas Wine Bar in upper Dupont, where you can hashtag your way through 70 temperature-controlled wines-by-the-glass. Ticket price includes entry, your first drink of choice, and entry to win a #dcwineweek prize (2031 Florida Ave. NW).

The Wine Down
Saturday, October 20, 6–9 PM
Check back on the DC Wine Week website for more details on this One Lounge event, but last year’s culminating Wine Week party included a variety of passed wine tastings throughout the evening (1606 20th St. NW).
