On December 5, 1933, the states finally fully ratified the 21st Amendment, repealing the 18th Amendment and ending the mostly disastrous experiment known as Prohibition. To commemorate Repeal Day, Jack Rose Dining Saloon is throwing a weeklong festival and holding a Repeal Day Party with Prohibition-era-priced drinks.

From Wednesday, November 28–Tuesday, December 4, the Adams Morgan bar will offer a curated series of rare draft beers, including J.W. Lees Harvest Ale 2011 (aged in Lagavulin whiskey barrels) and Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Along with the special brews, guests can nibble on á la carte food dishes inspired by the 1920s (think lobster thermidor and steamed quail buns — why not?).

Then, on Repeal Day itself (December 5), a “booze-fueled” party will run from 10 PM–1 AM. Your $20 ticket scores you access to one of two parties, per your preference. Go upstairs to the Roosevelt Room balcony for bottomless bubbles, specials on classic cocktails and cigars. Or, head downstairs to the never-before-seen Basement Punch Bar for 50-cent glasses of punch, specialty whiskeys and burlesque performances. If you want to start with some food, make a reservations for the special four-course tasting dinner beforehand — it’s also only $20 (!) and includes access to the later drinking parties.
