Menu MBK Hosts 'Holiday Market' Ahead of Its January Debut
Menu MBK, Table chef-owner Frederik De Pue’s forthcoming market, bar and restaurant, doesn’t open until mid-January 2014. But this week you can get a peek at what’s to come when De Pue and company host a preview.
Billed as Holiday Market, the first-look will take place on the first floor of the three-story concept on Thursday, December 19 from 3 to 7 PM. The Holiday Market will offer a special selection of seasonal treats and market stalls showcasing a number of local vendors with complementary hot chocolate and Chapel Hill Farm veal meatballs. Stands will be staffed by representatives from DC Cured, Bounty Hill Farms and Junius Coffee, and the Kitchen at Menu — the restaurant opening on the third floor — will serve apple cider, soup, holiday cookies, macaroons, sticky buns, candied apples and Belgian waffles.
In the weeks ahead, Menu MBK, which stands for Market, BistroBar, and Kitchen, will make its official debut. When opened, it will include a ground floor market that offers local produce and goods as well as coffee and pre-made meals. The mid-level BistroBar will serve a variety of beer, wine and cocktails accompanied by casual bar bites and small plates. The top floor will hold Menu Kitchen, a 40-seat restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu of comforting European country cooking that has made De Pue's Table a hit in Shaw.
