Drink DC's Guide to New Year's Eve in the District

That time of year is upon us yet again. Whether you’re looking for a blowout party, an intimate dinner for two or a more relaxed setting to usher in the New Year, there are plenty of options in the nation’s capital. Check out our list below and make sure to get your tickets and reservations in before the clock strikes midnight.

Go Big or Go Home

Eno Wine Bar
7 PM; $55 advance or $66 at the door
Although champagne is the usual libation of choice on this holiday, if you’re an oenophile, stop by this wine bar for passed hors d'oeuvres and glasses of wine and champagne for $9. Throughout the night, bottles of bubbly will be discounted by 20%. There will be a DJ and a special chocolate treat at midnight. (2810 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202-295-2826)

Nick’s Riverside Grill and Tony and Joe's Seafood Place
9 PM; $90
Party on the Georgetown Waterfront with these two restaurants offering heated tents, two DJs, a live band, appetizer buffets and an open bar for five hours. Buy your ticket solo or get a discount for groups of 10 or more. (3050 K St., NW; 202-342-3764)

Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar
5 PM; Prices vary
Come for the four-course dinner courtesy of Chef Josh Hutter, stay for the Winter White party starting at 9 PM. The lounge will be transformed into a winter wonderland with a DJ, photobooth and beverage packages that can be purchased at varying levels. White attire is recommended. Ring in the New Year with a three course prix-fixe dinner featuring foie gras terrine, whole seared turbot and a tarte souffle. The dining areas will be decked out in balloons and other festive decor, making it the perfect backdrop for a low key celebration with your date. Say cheers with a champagne toast at midnight. Looking for the perfect double date spot? Head to this meat-centric eatery for their special New Year’s Eve dinner menu. There’s a minimum party of four for the prix fixe option, or you can order from an a la carte menu. (709 D St., NW; 202-524-5322)

Too Cool For School

Lou’s City Bar
For a no fuss New Year’s Eve, head over to this beloved sports bar for food specials, half off all of their 16 draft beers all day and night, champagne cocktails and watch college bowl games and the Time Square countdown on their HDTVs. (1400 Irving St., NW; 202-518-5687)

2 Birds 1 Stone
6 PM
Not in the mood to get all gussied up? Head over to Doi Moi’s sister bar for champagne on champagne. Enjoy an all-bubbly cocktail menu including a special champagne punch. The best part? There are no tickets, cover or dress code. Come one, come all. (1800 14th St., NW; 301-424-1600)

Dress to Impress...in Costume

Kelly’s Irish Times
9 PM–1 AM; $60 advance, $80 at the door
Surround yourself with Prohibition-era decor at this speakeasy-themed bash complete with cocktails representative of the time period, hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine. Dress up like you belong in the Roaring Twenties, or be boring and don’t. Your choice. (14 F St., NW; 202-543-

9 PM–4 AM; $50 general admission ticket
Don your party mask at this Masquerade ball downtown. A ticket will get you access to a premium open bar and hors d'oeuvres from 9–10 PM, a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and enough party favors and masks to get you through the night. (600 14th St., NW; 202-393-1900)

Napoleon
7 PM–4 AM; $30
Usher in the New Year by going back in time at the Time Traveler’s Ball at Napoleon. Dress up as your favorite character, historical figure, generation or decade.
