Where to Celebrate Memorial Day in Washington, D.C.

Memorial Day in DC means tourists, parades, concerts on the mall and barbecues galore. From oysters to flip cup and rooftop parties, here are your options on how to spend your three-day weekend.

Orange Anchor
Tuesday, May 19, 5–10 PM
The nautical-themed Orange Anchor will be hosting a pre-Memorial Day Patio Crush Party to help patrons get into the holiday spirit. You’ll get $5 crushes and a chance to score giveaways out on the patio. (3050 K St., NW; 202-802-9990)

Friday, May 22, 4–7 PM
Pray your boss lets you out early to enjoy the holiday weekend, or just skip out a few hours early and head to Penn Social’s BBQ-themed happy hour where “All Things Pork” are $5. As usual, the happy hour includes 30+ draft beers and games including shuffleboard, skeeball and corn hole. (801 E St., NW; 202-697-4900)

Jazz in the Garden
Friday, May 22, 5–8:30 PM
Back for another season, enjoy music from Jazz guitarist Tom Lagana at the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden. Stake a spot on the grass early as concerts always fill up quickly and real estate is scarce. Sangria is available for purchase at the Pavilion Café. (Entrances on Constitution Avenue at 9th St., and on the National Mall between 7th and 9th Sts.; 202-289-3360)

Embassy Row Hotel
Saturday May 23, 12–6 PM
Hosted by Hot 99.5, Embassy Row Hotel will be the backdrop to a Memorial Day Weekend Pool Party. Enjoy music from Hot 99.5 DJs as you take in the awesome views and sip on cocktails from the rooftop bar. Tickets are $45. (2015 Massachusetts Ave., NW; 202-265-1600)

Mason Inn
Sunday, May 24, 4 PM
Relive the college years and sign up for Mason Inn’s Memorial Day Flip Cup Tournament. The first 32 teams to sign up will gain entry, and there is no cost to play. Winners of the tournament will be crowned champions and gifted with a $150 tab to use at Mason Inn. Obviously, costumes are encouraged, and the team sporting the best ones will win a $100 tab. (2408 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-337-1313)

W Hotel
Sunday, May 24, 7 PM–2 AM
For a swankier Memorial Day affair, RSVP to the 5th Annual Pink and White Memorial Day Rooftop Party at the W. Enjoy live music and amazing views from POV. A portion of your $15 admission ticket will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and each ticket comes with a raffle ticket for a chance to win a stay at the W. As the name of the event would suggest, pink and white are a must in your outfit choice. The most creative ensemble will win a free bottle of liquor. (515 15th St., NW; 202-661-2400)

City Tap House
Monday, May 25, 2–6 PM
Head to City Tap House for the Inaugural Memorial Day Shuckfest. Enjoy your bivalves in every imaginable form: oyster po’boys, oyster benedicts, grilled oysters, fried oysters, raw oysters and oyster shooters. City Tap House is firing up the patio grill and will have games of corn hole set up as well as a live bluegrass band. (901 9th St., NW; 202-644-9433)
