Thursday, January 19

Public Rocks Series Launch

What: Public Bar launches a once-a-month live music series
Where: Public Bar (1214 18th St. NW)
When: Thursday, January 19, 10 PM--1 AM
Price: $5 cover

Gear up for the weekend by imbibing $4 Star Hill beers and $7 Ketel One Oranje cocktails to the tune of '90s cover band White Ford Bronco at this Dupont sports bar. This week marks the first in a series of monthly Thursday nights featuring live local bands.

DC Brau Tasting

What: Taste the locally made ale and meet the brew master himself
Where: Wisdom (1432 Pennsylvania Ave. SE)
When: Thursday, January 19, 7--9:30 PM
Price: Free

Taste local brewery DC Brau’s full line of beers – such as The Public pale ale and the Penn Quarter Porter – at this rare free event, where you can mingle with the brew master and enjoy other beers on special throughout the evening (though we think we’ll stick to the local stuff).


Friday, January 20

Restaurant Week Drink Specials at Smith Commons

What: Drink specials to accompany the $35.12 restaurant week menu
Where: Smith Commons (1245 H St. NE)
When: Friday, January 20
Price: Select drink specials available with $35.12 three-course dinner

Partake in the last night of Smith’s extended restaurant week by pairing your meal (think braised short rib and goat cheese ravioli) with select $5 pints, Moët Chandon splits for $15, Newton Cabernet for $10 and flights of Bulleit Bourbon for $20.


Saturday, January 21

Saturday Night Sips

What: A cocktail reception celebrating the Youth Food Movement
Where: Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW)
When: Saturday, January 21, 6:30 PM
Price: $125

Join renowned chefs Jose Andres and Alice Waters in savoring bites and sips from El Centro D.F., Poste, Cafe Saint-Ex, Bar Pilar, Eatonville and more local establishments in a benefit for DC Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table.


Sunday, January 22

Washington Wine Academy’s 1K Beer Walk

What: An indoor 1K walk featuring more than 30 beers
Where: The Crystal City Shops (2200 Crystal Dr., Crystal City, Arlington)
When: Sunday, January 22, 2 PM--7 PM
Price: $20

Show your marathon-running friends what you’re made of at this much more enjoyable sporting event, which features a 1k walk along the indoor shops of Crystal City. Refuel with more than 30 beers--including local ales from Flying Dog and DC Brau--at “hydration stations” along the way.
