Drink to Summer Restaurant Week, August 13-19

Drink to Summer Restaurant Week, August 13-19

August can be a slow month in D.C.: Congress is out of session, it’s too hot to be outside and many Washingtonians flee for the beach and cooler climates. Luckily for those of us sticking around, a handful of D.C.’s best restaurants have added beverage specials to their summer Restaurant Week offerings, which are available this year between Monday–Sunday, August 13–19 (with several spots extending the offers through Aug. 26). Book your reservation now to enjoy a leisurely three-course lunch ($20.12) or dinner ($35.12) with a liquid twist.

Art & Soul: Celebrity chef Art Smith made a name for himself cooking up Southern classics for Oprah Winfrey, and now you can try the gourmet comfort fare and get a deal on some vino, too. Restaurant Week lunch and dinner specials are available here August 13-26; 30 select bottles of wine are available for $30 (lunch and dinner) while wines by the glass are just $7 and $8 during lunch (202-393-777; 415 New Jersey Ave. NW).

Co Co Sala: It’s not alcoholic, but the amuse chocolate — a “frozen hot chocolate sip” — makes for a delicious fourth course at this chic Penn Quarter restaurant and chocolate lounge. Available at dinner only, the restaurant week menu also includes a choice of two salads, a choice of two “co co bites” for a selection of small plates such as artichoke tart and bacon mac, all followed by a “sweet finale” (202-347-4265; 929 F St. NW).

El Centro D.F.
: Dinner at the Richard Sandoval taqueria includes one antojito, one entree, one dessert and one beverage from a large selection that includes a traditional, mango or strawberry margarita; Mexican beers or one of the seasonal agua frescas (202-328-3131; 1819 14th St. NW).

Hill Country: Raise a glass to the lone star state with a free pint of Shiner on draft (or lemonade or fountain soda) along with corn bread, a hunk of meat from “the pitmaster” and a dessert (202-556-2050; 410 7th St. NW).

Graffiato
: Sip select bottles of Italian (and American) wines for $30.12 during restaurant week, which is extended here (for lunch and wine specials) through Aug. 26. Play European for the day by taking an extended lunch to taste Italian small plates and a midday bottle of the good stuff (202-289-3600; 707 6th St. NW).

Firefly:  Enjoy one of five featured bottles of wine available for $35.11 at this picnic-inspired Dupont establishment. All from the west coast, the vino will go well with fresh fare such as endive salad, ratatouille risotto and red velvet cake (202-861-1310; 1310 New Hampshire Ave. NW).
