Repeal Day: Where to Celebrate in Washington, D.C.
December 5 is a great day in U.S. history: It was on this day in 1933, Prohibition officially ended, and the sales of alcohol became legal again. Worth celebrating? We certainly think so. If you agree, here’s some specials going on around town.

In celebration of Prohibition’s repeal, the Saloon will play host to a “Roaring Twenties” party with burlesque dancers, cigar girls, and lots and lots of things to drink. Bartenders will be mixing classic cocktails, Prohibition Punch, and offer specials on whiskey flights.

The DC Craft Bartenders Guild is throwing a gala, black tie affair for the sixth year running, this year celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition. Enjoy cocktails from D.C.’s best bartenders and live Prohibition era music with more than 400 other revelers. Tickets are still available online here. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to The Museum of the American Cocktail, the nonprofit organization dedicated to education in Mixology and preserving the rich history of the American Cocktail.
