Where to Get Holly Jolly With DC's Best Spiked Eggnogs

Where to Get Holly Jolly With DC's Best Spiked Eggnogs

‘Tis the season for holly and mistletoe...and drinking copious amounts of eggnog. Spiked eggnog, that is. Thankfully there is no shortage of boozy eggnog offerings in the city; head to these bars to get your fill before the holiday season is over.

Available from December 1–31, the Classic Eggnog at 1789 is prepared sous-vide style with the mixture of sugar, rum extract, nutmeg, almond extract, cloves, guar guam, Lambda Carrageenan, heavy cream, whole milk, and egg yolks placed in a zip-close bag and submerged in a water bath. Served chilled and topped with grated nutmeg, grab one for $13. (1226 36th St., NW; 202-965-1789)

At Ambar, mixologist Rico Wisner has concocted the Egg-N-Grog made with Hennessy Black, Ron Zacapa, Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum, Hidalgo Oloroso Sherry, spiced syrup, a whole egg, and milk. Available through January 7 for $12. (523 8th St. SE; 202-819-3039)
Mockingbird Hill
During the month of December, Mockingbird Hill will be transformed into a winter wonderland called Miracle on 7th Street. From December 1–24, the bar will be decked out in holiday decor, and the menu will include seasonal drinks such as the Nog Shot...a shot of Baltimore eggnog. (1843 7th St., NW; 202-316-9396)

Part of Bibiana’s 25 Cocktails of Christmas, the Classic Eggnog with a Twist is made with Pedro Ximenez, Benedictine, and Buffalo Trace. Available from December 10–24 for $12. (1100 New York Ave., NW; 202-216-9550)

A Puerto Rican spin on the classic eggnog, Cuba Libre’s El Coquito is a sweet and rich cocktail made with cinnamon, vanilla, coconut milk, coconut rum, and a toasted coconut rim. Available through January 1 for $10. (801 9th St., NW; 202-408-1600)

Offered through December, the Lupo Eggnog was created by beverage director Francesco Amodeo and is made with almond milk, brandy, Don Ciccio Nocino (walnut liqueur), simple syrup, cinnamon tincture, egg yolk, and garnished with cinnamon sugar powder. (1401 T St., NW; 202-827-4752)

Magnolia’s on King
Head to Old Town to try Magnolia’s three takes on the classic eggnog. Three variations are made with bourbon, rum & rye, and mezcal and are available through December. Each cocktail is priced between $12-13. (703 King St., Alexandria; 703-838-9090)
