American and Irish whiskeys will battle it out on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. From 1–3 PM on March 19, Beverage Director Scott Clime will lead a tasting of 10 whiskeys while sharing insights on the selection. The tasting includes a full luncheon buffet; $85 per person. Celebrate “St. Pappy Day” at Bourbon Steak where they’ll be releasing Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve. Tapas will be paired with one-ounce pours of five members of the Reserve. The pairing of five pours and small plates is $255 per person. (2800 Pennsylvania Ave, NW; 202-944-2026)

Get to ready to rage at Irish Whiskey’s Beat the Clock Party on St. Patrick’s Day. From 11 AM–1 PM, enjoy $2 green beers and $3 Guinness, from 1–3 PM the prices goes up to $3 green beers and $4 Guinness, and from 3–5 PM, both green beer and Guinness are $5. From 5 PM to close, Logan Tavern will be serving up Irish fare in the form of bangers and mash and Irish beef and beer stew. Guinness and Jameson will be flowing all night, but if you feel the need to shake up your drink order, try the Dublin Mule (Irish whiskey, fresh lime juice, ginger beer, mint spring) or the Stout Float (vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whip cream, toasted hazelnut). In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Macon Bistro & Larder will be adding six limited-edition cocktails to the menu, all incorporating Green Chartreuse and Yellow Chartreuse. Why celebrate for just one day when you can celebrate the whole week? At Ri Ra take part in the weeklong festivities which include special happy hours (specific days feature Bushmills, Jameson, Knappogue Castle, and Guinness) and live music. Live Irish music and Irish dancing abound at Villain & Saint on St. Patrick’s Day. Doors open at 4 PM with Irish-acoustic kicking off the entertainment. Food specials include pork belly and cabbage, sausages, and Irish stew. $5 cover starting at 4 PM, $12 cover after 7:30 PM.
